Mousie and Puss visited New Zealand in 1999.

Mousie's friend Sharon moved to New Zealand after meeting a kiwi guy called Andrew at an Australian Rover Moot.  To cut the story short, we were invited to the wedding in Christchurch and figured that as we were already there and that I was on uni holidays, we may as well make a holiday of it and spent 11 days there.  These photo's below show just how much we could get up to in that time.  Note that we stayed on the South Island, as time was an issue plus it's nicer anyway!!  We'll go back there one day.

The view of the Avon River from our room in 'Riverview Lodge':

Riverview Lodge:

Sampling the freezing cold water whilst attempting to board the kayak.  A wharf would've been nice:

Springfield (no Simpsons in sight) train station and the view towards the alps:

Testing out my newly acquired Macpac raincoat.  Also note the new Scarpas:

The fascinating Pancake Rocks on the west coast:

Inlet to a lake and beach in Hokitika.  First photo of the illustrious Festy:

The action shot - me leaving the chopper to go glacier hiking:

The Franz Josef Glacier:

Mousie, some English people, an American, some Aussies and the Scottish tour guide:

Mousie in a big crack:

One of many one person suspension bridges on hikes around the island.  You soon learn how to walk on them to minimise swaying...

Mousie wasn't allowed to go into the maze as she'd get lost and we'd be there for hours:

The Homer Tunnel, built during the Depression, is on the road down to Milford Sound.  It was dark, rough and faces downhill:

Some nice seals on the Milford Sound cruise:

A poorly enhanced photo of a penguin beside the sound:

Decent sized waterfalls on the drive out of Milford Sound.  Makes one feel very small and insignificant:

Couldn't resist the opportunity for a lame photo:

A disused suspension bridge somewhere that I can't remember the name of:

Do you like black sand?  Check out this beach on the east coast:

Some growly critters we encountered on a really cold, windy, rainy day (during which we tested the mud performance of the Festiva):

An old railway tunnel just out of Owaka (a town almost small enough to not be on the map at all):

The magnificent Larnach Castle in Dunedin - built by a politician:

Thought Larnach Castle was impressive?  Check out the railway station!!

Mousie standing in the steepest section of the steepest street in the world.  I wasn't allowed to take the Festy up it, but a Camira wagon made it!

A church on a point on Lake Tekapo:

A monument to dog's contribution to makind...Hmmm...New Zealand...

Mousie trying out the toboggan at the Antarctic Centre, killing time while waiting for the plane home:

The compulsory dirty hire car photo:
